The SEMI NextGen Award honors university students who have demonstrated outstanding initiative, innovation, and leadership in advancing research, technology, or industry-academia collaboration in the fields of semiconductor design, manufacturing, packaging, or end-use applications.
This prestigious award celebrates the next generation of semiconductor leaders whose academic excellence and leadership impact are shaping the future of microelectronics. It recognizes individuals whose work, vision, and dedication have made meaningful contributions to both the scientific community and the semiconductor ecosystem.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for the award, nominees are expected to demonstrate excellence in the following areas:
- Innovative Thinking: Research, projects, or technical work introducing novel ideas, methodologies, or technologies in semiconductor-related disciplines.
- Real-World Impact: Contributions with potential or demonstrated impact on applications such as AI, computing, telecommunications, automotive, healthcare, or consumer electronics.
- Leadership and Initiative: Active participation or leadership in student organizations, research groups, or outreach efforts that promote semiconductor education and innovation.
- Collaboration and Engagement: Engagement with industry professionals, academic mentors, or interdisciplinary teams that lead to meaningful partnerships, prototypes, or research outcomes.
- Recognition and Communication: A strong academic record, participation in conferences, publications, or recognized competitions that demonstrate the student's influence and promise.
The SEMI NextGen Award will be presented annually during the Industry Strategy Symposium Europe (ISS Europe), a premier event uniting leaders from industry, government, and academia.
Award recipients will receive:
- A commemorative plaque
- Complimentary registration to SEMICON Europa in Munich, Germany
- An invitation to present their work at the Industry Strategy Symposium Europe (ISS Europe) in the following year
Nominations must be submitted by a university professor by January 31, 2026.
