The SEMI Foundation and Policy Equity Group are using their collective expertise and networks to provide technical assistance to semiconductor companies across Arizona, Ohio, and Michigan. This free support, funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Dave and Lucile Packard Foundation, is designed to create wider workforce pipelines by helping companies to leverage federal and state childcare programs and to create plans to support to employees’ childcare needs.
Our goal is to help industry leaders meet workforce needs and achieve business outcomes by supporting and engaging current and potential workers who rely on affordable, accessible, and quality childcare to participate in the semiconductor workforce.
Our services
SEMI and Policy Equity Group are leveraging their expertise and workforce and policy networks to support regional and community-based solutions, focusing on childcare access as a leading workforce development strategy. Our work includes:
- Mapping local and regional childcare resources and workforce development activities to identify opportunities and gaps; providing advocacy and education to policy makers around regional childcare needs
- Assisting companies in designing and implementing childcare plans that leverage existing infrastructure, support community needs, and identify sustainable solutions; identifying and supporting funding and collaboration opportunities
- Conducting extensive outreach, recruitment, and retention programs for workers who rely on childcare with a focus on underrepresented communities
Partnership Opportunities
Workforce Assessment: Analysis of local workforce ecosystems and tailored collection of workforce insights (e.g. surveys, focus groups) on childcare needs.
Childcare Planning: Customized childcare plans responsive to workforce needs and structure to maximize federal investment by building from current childcare infrastructure.
Implementation & Outreach: Execute on childcare plans by directly engaging with local and state level stakeholders; Implement outreach programs for underrepresented populations
