Laith Altimime, President, SEMI Europe   

Biography

Laith Altimime, as President of SEMI Europe, leads SEMI’s activities in Europe and the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Altimime has P&L responsibility as well as ownership of all Europe region programs and events, including SEMICON Europa. He is responsible for establishing industry standards, advocacy, community development, expositions, and programs. He provides support and services to SEMI members worldwide that have supply chain interests in Europe. He manages and nurtures relationships with SEMI members in the region and globally, as well as with local associations and constituents in industry, government, and academia. Altimime has more than 30 years of international experience in the semiconductor industry. Prior to joining SEMI in 2015, He held senior leadership positions at NEC, KLA-Tencor, Infineon, Qimonda, and imec. Altimime holds an MSc from Heriot-Watt University, Scotland.

 

Thomas Gimmig, Director of Industry 4.0, STMicroelectronics  

Biography

Thomas Gimmig has twenty-six years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing. After holding various positions in maintenance, engineering, and production management at ST Microelectronics, finishing as Production Director of the Rousset plant in 2019, he moved to manufacturing central functions in 2022. Initially, he was in charge of Front-End Operational Excellence programs, developing the LEAN leaders community, and leading smart manufacturing transformation programs. He recently became the head of Industry 4.0 programs for ST Microelectronics manufacturing. Thomas Gimmig holds a master's degree in electronics.

Giovanni Notarnicola, Partner, Porsche Consulting 

Biography

Giovanni Notarnicola is a Partner at Porsche Consulting and leads the firm's global Semiconductor Practice. With more than 20 years of professional experience, including a background in electronic engineering and early work at CERN, he supports leading semiconductor companies in driving large-scale transformation programs. He is actively engaged in shaping the semiconductor ecosystem, serving as Chairman of a SEMI initiative on end-to-end smart manufacturing, and regularly advising C-level executives across the industry. His work sits at the intersection of industrial engineering and strategic transformation, with a particular focus on how European semiconductor manufacturers can build competitive advantage in an industry increasingly shaped by AI and physical automation.

Johannes Sturm, Vice President, Data and Manufacturing Automation Frontend, Infineon Technologies 

Biography

Johannes Sturm is a senior executive with a strong background in semiconductor manufacturing, combining deep technical expertise with a proven track record in operational excellence and productivity improvement. He holds a PhD in Physics from RWTH Aachen University and has been with Infineon Technologies since 1998, progressing through multiple leadership roles across Frontend and Backend manufacturing in Dresden. He has extensive experience in driving productivity gains, optimizing manufacturing processes, and advancing process technology in high-volume semiconductor environments.

Throughout his career, he has consistently focused on improving efficiency, throughput, and cost performance through innovative engineering and operational strategies.

Since 2014, based at Infineon’s headquarters in Munich, leading global initiatives in productivity, WIP flow management, and industrial engineering, with a strong emphasis on automation.

Currently serving as Vice President, Data and Manufacturing Automation Frontend, driving the digital transformation of semiconductor manufacturing through data-driven decision making and advanced automation solutions.

Passionate about leveraging technology to enhance manufacturing performance and enabling scalable, future-ready operations.
