在5G、新能源與電動車等創新應用的驅動下，引爆半導體的高度需求，擁有著高速、耐高溫、高壓等特性的化合物半導體成為關鍵角色，工研院預估未來五年，化合物半導體產值將較2020年增加80%，是科技產業競逐的新戰場，若能積極布局、掌握其關鍵技術，化合物半導體勢必能創造護國神山群起，引領更多合作新契機！
5G時代的來臨，會對半導體材料掀起怎樣的波瀾？將會有哪些應用誕生？未來化合物半導體只會愈來愈重要，從光通訊、基地台、車用電子，甚至是未來衛星通訊等，沒有化合物半導體，這些產業都無法運作。
自2017年起，SEMI超前部屬掌握化合物半導體蓬勃發展的契機，召集業界菁英代表成立台灣功率暨化合物半導體委員會，四年間透過展覽、活動、聯誼小聚、政策倡議等，為化合物半導體增添許多動能。隨著台灣半導體企業積極部署南台灣，擴大南科投資計畫，SEMI攜手委員會首次於台南舉辦【5G x Compound趨勢論壇】，邀請業界、學界及研究單位專家，同台為大家剖析化合物半導體技術與市場趨勢。
