Brussels, Belgium – September 17, 2025 – SEMI Europe, in partnership with the European Chips Diversity Alliance (ECDA), the European Chips Skills Academy (ECSA), OECD, and EU STEM Coalition, has invited policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to join its forum on “Accelerating Europe’s Tech Advantage” in Brussels on October 2, 2025. This high-level gathering will focus on addressing Europe’s semiconductor talent gap and serve as a platform to exchange ideas, share best practices, and explore strategies to strengthen Europe’s skills pipeline and sustain its leadership in advanced technologies.

Through the European Commission’s Union of Skills and STEM Education Strategic Plan, STEM education remains a top priority to ensure a workforce ready for high-tech sectors including semiconductors. By 2030, the industry could face a shortage in Europe of over 75,000 skilled workers, especially hardware engineers and technicians. While STEM graduates are increasing overall, only 28% specialize in semiconductor-relevant fields, and fewer than 18,000 entered the industry in 2022, according to the ECSA Skills Strategy 2024 report.

This talent gap poses a strategic risk as semiconductors underpin AI, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, cybersecurity, and defence. The seminar will address these challenges, highlight measurable solutions, and explore ways to secure Europe’s talent pipeline.

“The talent shortage is one of the most unprecedented challenges facing the semiconductor industry today. To secure Europe’s long-term competitiveness, SEMI Europe, in collaboration with the OECD and the STEM coalition, will strengthen education pathways and expand the talent pipeline through key initiatives that support the industry’s future growth,” said Laith Altimime, President of SEMI Europe.

“The event underscores the necessity of coordinated action to strengthen engineering and technical education, ensure alignment with semiconductor industry needs, and secure the skills pipeline that will sustain Europe’s technological leadership in the years ahead,” said Christopher Frieling, Director, Advocacy and Public Policy, SEMI Europe.

The forum will feature keynote addresses from Laith Altimime (SEMI Europe), Andreas Schleicher (OECD), and Beatrice Boots (EU STEM Coalition), followed by a panel discussion moderated by Victoria Cummings, Senior Manager EU Projects, SEMI Europe and Milva Carbonaro, Coordinator, SPACE4GEO. A networking reception will conclude the program to foster collaboration and future action.

Participation is open, but seats are limited. Interested stakeholders are encouraged to register here: https://diversityinchips.eu/accelerating-europes-tech-advantage/.

MILPITAS, Calif. – September 9, 2025 – SEMI, the industry association serving the global semiconductor and electronics design and manufacturing supply chain, today announced its new ConductorTM intelligence platform for enhanced supply chain management at SEMICON Taiwan. The platform was developed as part of the SEMI Supply Chain Management (SCM) initiative, in partnership with the initiative’s Industry Advisory Council members and partners including Infineon, McKinsey & Co., TechInsights, TSMC, and system end-user representatives, and is now open to first users. Signup for early access to the platform is now available.

SEMIEngineered by Beebolt, an AI-led global trade collaboration company and strategic partner of the SEMI SCM initiative, the proprietary Conductor tool uses real-time data to provide operational agility for a comprehensive view of global supply chain dynamics. The dashboard enables users to strengthen supplier capabilities to quickly respond to common disruptions and increase the resiliency of their operations. Beebolt and SEMI will exhibit at booth I2109 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center from September 10-12, 2025.

“SEMI Supply Chain Management initiative members and partners have explored multiple paths to strengthen supply chain resiliency and help the industry minimize disruptions caused by everything from geopolitical tensions to talent and skills shortages,” said Bettina Weiss, Chief of Staff and Corporate Strategy at SEMI.

“A key theme of our efforts has been on increasing supply chain visibility and knowledge sharing, while also examining how to harness the power of AI for time and efficiency gains. We developed the Conductor platform specifically with these themes in mind, bringing real-time data and analysis from across the global semiconductor and electronics value chain to our member companies and their suppliers and customers.”

BeeboltConductor provides visibility and agility by defining a series of metrics that can capture market dynamics. The insights aim to actively reduce risk of judgment gaps and improve transparency across the supply chain ecosystem.

Users can gain access to interactive KPIs, topic-based navigation, AI-powered news, and community learning with data and insights from a variety of expert sources. The tool’s resources keep teams informed on the latest supply chain shifts, analyses, regulations and more.

“The semiconductor industry plays an essential role in advancing countless sectors and forging stronger, more equitable ecosystems around the world,” said Co-CEO and Co-Founder of Beebolt, Talal Abu-Issa. “But increasing regulations, geopolitical tensions, climate disruptions and other challenges mean suppliers and manufacturers face a revolving door of obstacles.

“With Conductor, users can access aggregated data, industry analyses, and expert insights to navigate these complexities – optimizing their own systems, and strengthening entire supply chains. We’re thrilled to partner with SEMI and other members of the IAC to bring Conductor to market, and revolutionize how the industry collaborates.”

The SEMI SCM IAC, a SEMI member-led council working group which helps identify industry challenges and solutions, gained access to Conductor during its Minimum Viable Product stage in June 2025. Feedback contributed by pilot users helped inform the platform’s continued performance improvement and enhancements.

A demonstration of Conductor took place on September 9 at the SEMICON Taiwan Market and Industry Trend Forum. An estimated 100,000 people will attend SEMICON Taiwan, including key business and technology leaders, researchers, and industry analysts from across the microelectronics supply chain. The event marks one of the largest conferences in the semiconductor industry each year.

MILPITAS, Calif. – September 4, 2025 – SEMI, the industry association serving the global semiconductor and electronics design and manufacturing supply chain, today announced in its Worldwide Semiconductor Equipment Market Statistics (WWSEMS) Report that global semiconductor equipment billings increased 24% year-over-year to US$33.07 billion in the second quarter of 2025. Second quarter 2025 billings registered a 3% quarter-over-quarter expansion supported by the leading-edge logic, advanced high bandwidth memory (HBM) related DRAM applications, as well as increase in shipments to Asia.

SEMI“The global semiconductor equipment market has followed record billings of $117 billion in 2024 with a strong first half of 2025, registering more than $65 billion in revenue,” said Ajit Manocha, SEMI President and CEO. “Chipmakers continue to invest in production capacity to support advanced logic and memory innovation powering the AI wave, as well as key projects to bolster regional supply chain resilience.”

Compiled from data submitted by members of SEMI and the Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ), the WWSEMS Report is a summary of the monthly billings figures for the global semiconductor equipment industry.

Following are quarterly billings data in billions of U.S. dollars, with quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year changes by region:

The SEMI Equipment Market Data Subscription (EMDS) provides comprehensive market data for the global semiconductor equipment market. The subscription includes three reports:

  • Monthly SEMI Billings Report, a perspective on equipment market trends
  • Monthly WWSEMS, a detailed report of semiconductor equipment billings for seven regions and 24 market segments
  • SEMI Semiconductor Equipment Forecast, an outlook for the semiconductor equipment market
