Proactive biodiversity management across corporate supply chains represents a vital opportunity to align regulatory compliance with ecological resilience and business value. This abstract presents a science-based mitigation framework designed for industrial and urban sites, leveraging advanced geospatial platforms like TraceMark to analyze environmental metrics in line with TNFD and SBTN guidelines. By assessing portfolio-level data, companies can identify high-priority target sites, analyze local species of cultural or economic significance, and address habitat improvement gaps.
To bridge the gap between assessment and action, the framework proposes modular, scale-appropriate "Mitigation Packages"—including Scrub Savannas, Wet Meadows, and Ecological Ponds. These nature-based solutions are tailored to industrial footprints and offer flexible, tiered investment scenarios consisting of low, medium, and high interventions. Beyond supporting local wildlife, these interventions deliver significant corporate advantages: they lower operational costs via reduced water and landscape maintenance, secure a social license to operate, and satisfy emerging reporting mandates such as CSRD, CSDD, and EUDR. Furthermore, incorporating native landscaping boosts worker productivity and mental well-being through cognitive restoration. Ultimately, this structured methodology demonstrates that investing in local ecosystems is a highly effective strategy for strengthening corporate supply chain resilience.
