SEMICON Taiwan 2026 Expands Global Platform for Semiconductor Startups

SEMICON Taiwan 2026 Expands Global Platform for Semiconductor Startups

Silicon Startups Zone Showcase More Than Doubles; New Venture Day Connects Startups with Industry and Capital

HSINCHU, Taiwan — Aug 19, 2026 — From advanced semiconductor devices and manufacturing technologies to AI-driven systems, silicon photonics, power electronics, and sustainable manufacturing, semiconductor innovation is accelerating across industries. For startups, however, breakthrough technology is only the beginning: the ability to quickly connect with industry, capital, customers, manufacturing partners, investors and global markets is critical to turning innovation into commercialization.

Among SEMICON events worldwide, SEMICON Taiwan 2026 is leading the push to cultivate semiconductor startups and strengthen the innovation ecosystem. More than 40 startups will showcase cutting-edge technologies, led by AI computing, while corporate venture capital (CVC), venture capital (VC) firms and accelerators join the zone for the first time. The Innovation Showcase will grow from six startups to 16, and new programs, including the Silicon Startups Stage and SEMI Venture Day, will connect startups with industry, capital and government resources through showcases, presentations and investment matchmaking.

Organized by SEMI, the Silicon Startups Zone is supported by the Taiwan Germination Program and Taiwan Tech Arena (TTA), with international ecosystem partners including Silicon Catalyst, Plug and Play, CEA-Leti, imec.ventures and imec.xpand. The zone will feature innovations in AI-driven systems, next-generation computing, quantum technologies, silicon photonics, advanced processes and packaging, sustainable manufacturing, and semiconductor equipment and materials.

SEMI Connects Companies to What’s Next in the Fast-Moving AI Era

Terry Tsao, SEMI Global Chief Marketing Officer and President of Taiwan, SEMI, said, “AI is accelerating semiconductor innovation and compressing technology cycles. Companies that cannot keep pace with emerging technologies risk missing the next wave of growth. SEMI’s global startup platform connects startups with industry leaders, investors, and manufacturers, providing members with early access to breakthrough technologies and accelerating validation and collaboration. By shortening the path from innovation to adoption, we aim to enable companies to move faster and capture growth opportunities.”

Innovation Showcase More Than Doubles in Size

Featured innovations at the Innovation Showcase include Leafy Lab, which applies agentic AI and automated design to improve chip tape-out success rates; Nabu Optical Systems, which combines projection lithography with direct laser writing for maskless direct-write lithography, reducing prototyping costs and development cycles; and Japan-based Elephantech, which uses nano-copper technology to advance high-density interconnects, through-glass vias (TGVs) and next-generation advanced packaging. Together, they highlight innovation across design, manufacturing and packaging integration.

Silicon Startups Stage Brings Nearly 40 Startup Presentations Across Six Technology Themes

Across three days, the Silicon Startups Stage will feature nearly 40 presentations across six technology themes, covering the latest technologies, applications, business models and market opportunities. Topics will span AI chip design and EDA, advanced manufacturing, packaging, silicon photonics, next-generation computing, and smart manufacturing and sustainability.

The stage will also spotlight emerging computing technologies targeting next-generation computing architectures. Neurophos is developing an Optical Processing Unit (OPU) for high-speed, energy-efficient AI inference; Ayar Labs is addressing data-movement and bandwidth bottlenecks in large-scale AI systems through co-packaged optics (CPO) and optical I/O; and Quantum Motion is advancing scalable silicon spin-qubit architectures using standard CMOS processes.

Together, these innovations show how photonic computing, high-speed optical interconnects, and silicon quantum computing can address AI’s rising demands for performance, bandwidth and energy efficiency, bringing next-generation computing closer to commercialization.

Venture Day Connects High-Potential Startups with Global Capital

Debuting September 4, Venture Day will convene semiconductor startups, CVCs, VCs and global ecosystem partners for a closed-door program focused on investment and business collaboration.

Morning sessions will feature leaders from Silicon Catalyst, Plug and Play, Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation (TWSE), MediaTek Innovation Fund, UMC Capital, TEL Venture Capital, Samsung Ventures and Lam Capital, sharing perspectives on startup incubation, corporate investment and capital market development. The CVC Luncheon will then convene members of the SEMI High-Tech Innovation & Investment Committee, global CVCs and ecosystem partners for deeper industry exchange. In the afternoon, the Startup Pitch Showcase will feature 10 to 12 high-potential startups selected by the SEMI High-Tech Innovation & Investment Committee, connecting promising teams with investors and strategic partners.

SEMICON Taiwan 2026 begins with pre-show forums on August 31, followed by the exhibition September 2–4 at TaiNEX. Registration for the exhibition and forums is now open. Visit the official website for details.
