Quantum Computing: Status and Outlook

Abstract PDF
Quantum computing operates in a fundamentally different way than today’s classical computing. And it promises to be the next generation of computing, able to solve problems otherwise intractable in fields as diverse as chemistry and finance. In his keynote, Dr. Jeff Welser will explore the current state of quantum computing: from the progress IBM has made in opening a quantum computation center for commercial and research activity – including a new 53-qubit quantum computer – to the expanding ecosystem of developers, engineers, academics, and industry tapping into quantum systems to explore practical applications. For quantum computing to succeed, it will require partnerships across diverse organizations, industries and disciplines.
