Speech Abstract
Hydrogen is expected to support the global energy transition, particularly in industrial processes, heavy transport and applications where direct electrification remains difficult. However, successful deployment depends on more than hydrogen production alone. Projects must connect suitable technologies with reliable demand, safe infrastructure, competitive costs and clear regulatory requirements. This presentation explains how the Czech Republic, particularly the Moravian-Silesian Region, can serve as a practical entry point for Taiwanese companies and research organisations seeking cooperation and access to the European market. It introduces ongoing Czech–Taiwan initiatives involving Drážní revize and Drážní servis, including an integrated system for low-carbon hydrogen production, carbon capture, storage and refuelling, as well as a hydrogen-powered drone for AI-assisted railway inspection. Further cooperation covers hydrogen-powered autonomous vessels, high-temperature thermal energy storage, methane pyrolysis and solid-state hydrogen storage. Together, these projects demonstrate how Taiwanese expertise in fuel cells, manufacturing and system integration can complement Czech capabilities in engineering, safety, testing and certification. The presentation concludes with a practical pathway from joint research and pilot demonstrations to commercial applications in Central Europe.
