Standards Become Live Art at SEMICON West
By Heidi M. Hoffman, SEMI, Sr. Director, Technology Communities Marketing
Over 65 SEMI Standards meetings take place at SEMICON West with members coming and going as needed in relative anonymity and minimal recognition of the important conversations which lead to reducing costs and improving efficiencies for the industry. This year’s event gave Standards Members a chance to pause and reflect in the South Hall lobby as their activities took on visual shape.
To showcase the breadth and depth of the SEMI Standards Program, and as part of the celebration of the publication of the 1000th SEMI Standard, Standards Members were asked three different questions: 1) Which SEMI Standard has had the most impact on your work life? 2) What is the most important area for the next 1,000 standards? 3) Which SEMI Standard – which you helped create – has had the biggest impact on the industry?
Responses flowed in and the graphics designer gave each its own visual interpretation on the wall. Over 100 submissions were received across the three categories and resulted in the pillars seen below. The finished artwork will be prominently featured in the SEMI Milpitas building, providing inspiration for the all standards members attending the Spring and Fall meetings.
Thank you to everyone who contributed a response. We hope you find the SEMI Standards Art Wall intriguing and inspiring.
