New Standards Initiatives Kicks Off in Japan TC Chapters

By Takeaki Hirabara, SEMI Japan

A new Task Force, the Maintenance Robot Communication (MRC) Task Force, has been established under the Information & Control (I&C) Japan TC Chapter.

Background

In semiconductor manufacturing facilities, full automation of material handling systems has progressed since the introduction of 300 mm fabs. As we move toward next-generation fabs, the integration of robot-based maintenance solutions has become increasingly important. By automating the maintenance of manufacturing equipment components using robots, we aim to improve semiconductor production efficiency, reduce the workload, and stabilize work quality.

This Task Force was established based on the recognition that standardizing of operational communications for robotic maintenance system is particularly important.

The TF community page has been set up in the Connect@SEMI platform. Click “Join” to participate in this TF activities. You must be a SEMI Standards Program member to access any Standards related activities on the platform. To join, refer to the Get Involved below.

How to Search

Go to "Communities" (Navigation bar in Connect@SEMI) > Standards Task Forces > Maintenance Robot Communication (MRC) Task Force Japan > Join Community

In addition, a new TF, the Mobile Maintenance Robot Safety TF, has also been established under the EHS Japan TC Chapter in relation to smart manufacturing.

You can join this TF in the same way as the Maintenance Robot Communication TF described above.

Get Involved

SEMI Standards development activities take place throughout the year in all major manufacturing regions. To get involved, join the SEMI International Standards Program at: www.semi.org/standardsmembership.

For more information, please visit our main Web site and current events page. If you have any questions regarding SEMI Standards activities, please contact your local SEMI Standards staff.
