Traceability, Sustainability, Standards and more at SEMICON West 2025
Things are heating up!
By Paul Trio, Director, Standards, SEMI
SEMICON West 2025 heads to Phoenix, Arizona featuring programs and events aimed to help shape the future of microelectronics. Continuing on the “Stronger Together” theme, this year’s event focuses on shaping a sustainable future in talent, technology, and trade. Our first SEMICON West in the Grand Canyon State will feature several thought-leadership-driven sessions including topics on supply chain, sustainability, data-AI, cybersecurity, just to name a few.
Our SEMI Standards meetings will take place on October 6-9 also at the Phoenix Convention Center. This meeting set will host 10 Technical Committees and over 40 Task Forces engaged in various standardization activities and topics, including EHS, Facilities & Gases, Flexible Hybrid Electronics, Information & Control, Liquid Chemicals, MEMS/NEMS, Metrics, Physical Interfaces & Carriers, and Silicon Wafer. We are also excited to host a variety of Standards educational programs - from a Liquid Chemicals Analytical Workshop to a session on Enhancing Voltage Sag Immunity to a SEMIU course on semiconductor device manufacturing in a cleanroom focused on improving product reliability and yield.
We are also excited to announce the return of the SEMI Global Standards Summit (GSS) this year to be held at SEMICON West on October 7. The Global Standards Summit is a strategic forum dedicated to identifying standards-critical areas and advancing an industry-wide standardization roadmap for the next 3- and 7-year horizons. Building on the momentum of the inaugural Summit held at SEMICON Japan 2024 —which spotlighted essential topics such as environmental sustainability—this year’s gathering continues that dialogue while expanding focus to include emerging challenges like supply chain traceability.
With increasing fragmentation across the global microelectronics supply chain driven by geopolitical and other disruptive forces, the need for unified standards is more critical than ever. GSS2025 provides a timely opportunity to convene, collaborate, and identify the standards that will address these challenges and foster greater industry alignment. We encourage you to join, engage, and help shape the future of standards.
The SEMI Standards Awards & Networking Event will also be held on Tuesday, October 7 – right after GSS2025 –where we recognize and celebrate Standards leaders who have made impactful contributions to our Program.
The Cybersecurity Forum returns to SEMICON West with a focus on Building Cybersecurity Resilience Through Industry Alliances as this year’s theme. With the trends of globalization and digitization, semiconductor supply chains have become increasingly complex and susceptible to cybersecurity threats. In recent years, the development of emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things, AI, and big data has further heightened the cybersecurity challenges facing semiconductor supply chains. Organized by the SEMI Semiconductor Manufacturing Cybersecurity Consortium (SMCC) Technology Community, this session will delve into strategies for addressing the challenges of semiconductor supply chain cybersecurity including: legacy tools, emerging & existing cyber legislation and compliance, maintenance in manufacturing, and supply chain security among others.
