AI, Cybersecurity, Standards and more at SEMICON West 2024
Strengthening our industry through Standards and SEMI Initiatives
By Paul Trio, Director, Standards, SEMI
SEMICON West 2024 returns to San Francisco on July 9-11 with a focus on “Stronger Together.” The event focuses on facilitating the acceleration of innovation by jointly aligning and aggregating resources for better business results. Building upon the last year’s theme of “forward as one,” we are indeed stronger together.
The CEO Summit returns with yet another strong line up with this year with a focus on investing in America’s Manufacturing Future as well as Seizing the Global Opportunities and Challenges Ahead. Industry critical topics such as Data/AI, EHS & Sustainability, Heterogeneous Integration, and Workforce Development will also be featured at this year’s SEMICON West.
For AI/ML, the session, “Synergies Unveiled: Unleashing the Potential of AI/ML in Revolutionizing Electronic Materials Manufacturing” will delve into the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) on electronic materials manufacturing. Organized by the SEMI Electronic Materials Group (EMG) Technology Community, the session will explore the pros and cons, challenges, and inherent risks associated with integrating AI/ML into various facets of semiconductor material production, including the roles of chemicals suppliers, R&D, and manufacturing. Thought leaders from the data analytics, materials, equipment, and device maker will share their perspectives highlighting the need for materials selection, formulation technology, and quality control. Meanwhile, the Future of Computing session will focus on emerging hardware problems caused by the rapidly increasing demands of new AI models in terms of performance, power and memory. The session will address novel architectures and devices as well as disruptive quantum technologies.
The Global Cybersecurity Executive Forum also returns to SEMICON West with a focus on Assuring Cybersecurity Resilience Through Industry Partnership as this year’s theme. With the semiconductor industry constantly impacted by cybersecurity threats inside our factories and within our supply chain, these significant headwinds need to be addressed in order to secure our industry’s future. Organized by the SEMI Semiconductor Manufacturing Cybersecurity Consortium (SMCC) Technology Community, this session will feature perspectives from leaders of the device maker & equipment supplier communities as well as representatives from the U.S. government. This session will also provide updates on new standards activities underway that builds upon the SEMI E187 and E188 cybersecurity specifications.
Another must-see at SEMICON West is the Test Vision Symposium which is one of today’s premier gatherings of semiconductor test experts and visionaries. The goal of Test Vision is not just to discuss the latest developments in test equipment and methodologies, but to present a vision of the future of test. This year’s theme is Test in the Semiconductor Future, focuses on the increasing prevalence of semiconductors in new areas and fields such as electric vehicles (EV), consumer electronics, and further advances in high-performance computing and AI. This year’s sessions will feature initiatives and innovations on RF and Power, AI, Digital Test, Test Data, and Test Generation Enhancements.
