SEMI Japan Tutorial: General Trends in Chemicals Regulation
By SEMI Japan
Tutorial Outline:
In recent years, chemical substance regulations in Europe and the U.S. tend to strengthen the grouping of bisphenols and PFAS into a single set of regulations. These trends have a global impact and must be closely monitored. The impact of these regulations is far-reaching, from upstream to downstream in the supply chain, so it is becoming increasingly important to share information on the supply chain.
This tutorial will provide an overview of the chemical substance control policies and related regulations in Europe and the United States. It is becoming increasingly important to share supply chain information not only on chemical substances but also on chemical substances contained in parts and molded products. We hope this tutorial will be a valuable resource for acquiring a diverse range of information.
Topics:
- EU Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability (CSS): Overview of EU chemicals policy trends with a focus on the REACH and CLP Regulations
- U.S. Chemicals Strategy: Overview of Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) chemical policy trends with a focus on the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)
- An overview of PFAS: from basic knowledge to proposed PFAS restrictions
Tutorial Target:
Business, technical, and environmental and safety (EHS) personnel from semiconductor manufacturers and manufacturers of equipment, facilities, materials, and components management should be aware of broad trends, and those newly assigned to chemical substance regulations due to transfer, new employees, etc. This tutorial should also be considered as part of internal training.
