The keynote, presented by Samsung SDS, was on current automation trends in the semiconductor industry, emphasizing the importance of smart factory investments for thriving in the era of the 4th industrial revolution. The speaker also highlighted key considerations for the adoption of automation technology in outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) processes.
YS Lim from Miracom Inc shared several use cases, suggesting that SECS/GEM, a widely used protocol in the front-end industry, can also serve as an effective tool for developing back-end automation systems. Additionally, he emphasized that establishing back-end-oriented standards would contribute to reducing initial investment costs.
Dongwook Cho from LS ELECTRIC shared success stories from LS ELECTRIC's lighthouse factory, providing practical examples and insights on implementing automation strategies in the absence of existing automation infrastructure.
The seminar proved to be a valuable platform for exchanging ideas and discussing the future of automation in the back-end sector. Attendees acknowledged the significant potential for future SEMI Standards development in the back-end area, further enhancing their understanding of the industry's prospects.
