SEMI China’s EHS Workshop Achieves Significant Milestones
By Isadora Jin, SEMI China
The SEMI Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Workshop, held successfully at Tiangong University on October 20, 2023, Brought together semiconductor equipment suppliers. This event received supportfrom the Tianjin Industrial and Information Technology Bureau, as well as Tiangong University. Distinguished speakers included representatives from MIGELAB, members of the SEMI EHS Global Technical Committee.
The workshop attracted participants from equipment suppliers, insurance companies, research institutions, and third parties. Notably, this marked the inaugural attempt to integrate industry and research institutions, including the university, to address EHS concerns. This collaborative effort signifies a significant milestone for SEMI China.
The SEMI EHS Workshop centered around the SEMI Safety Guidelines. Participants engaged in a thorough review and discussion of issues related to safety guidelines, with a focus on SEMI S1 (equipment safety labels), S2 (EHS for semiconductor manufacturing equipment), S8 (ergonomics), S10 (risk assessment), and S22 (electrical design). An innovative element was the inclusion of a post-workshop quiz to assess comprehension and efficacy. SEMI actively promotes standards and guidelines through such workshops, providing an invaluable platform for industry attendees to discuss and apply these principles.
