Robert Andosca, PhDDr. Robert Andosca linkedin.com/in/randosca is the Co-founder and CEO/CTO of INVIZA™ LLC inviza.com headquartered in Austin, TX, and is an Executive Board Director and Chair for MANCEF mancef.org. INVIZA is a FashTech/MedTech medical device company focused on bringing the best concealed and self-powered wearable activity trackers and associated fitness, health, and wellness mobile apps to market. Dr. Andosca has 30+ years of experience in the Internet of Things (IoT), microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)/sensors, and semiconductor integrated circuit industries. He is very passionate about the convergence of technologies, forming highly collaborative teams and strategic partnerships, and MEMS/sensors and energy harvesting (EH), including mechanical/electromagnetic and piezoelectric, thermal, and photovoltaic technologies for many IoT and wearable technology applications.

Dr. Andosca's professional experience ranges from C-level to operational to engineering management, business development, and strategic marketing positions, and has been a senior scientist and engineer focusing on many MEMS/sensor products. Dr. Andosca is the founder and was the former CEO/CTO of MicroGen Systems Inc. for over a decade. Dr. Andosca raised $12M in government grants, and angel and venture funding over 6 years. He and his team transferred the prototype piezo-MEMS vibration energy harvesters from the Cornell Nanoscale Facility cnf.cornell.edu to 200 mm high volume manufacturing with wafer-level packaging at X-FAB xfab.com in Germany. The MicroGen team also developed various Industrial IoT products and developed the first successful self-powered, tire-mounted Intelligent Tire System (ITS)/tire-pressure monitoring system (TPMS) modules for Class 8 commercial long-haul truck tires.

Dr. Andosca has held director and senior-level positions at Advanced Energy (large area: flat panel display and roll-to-roll “R2R” thin-film plasma deposition processing), Smart Systems & Technology Center (formerly Infotonics), Lilliputian Systems, Umicore, Corning IntelliSense, Clare Corporation, Lockheed Martin, and Irvine Sensors. Dr. Andosca is also an adjunct professor in the Rochester Institute of Technology’s Mechanical Engineering Department rit.edu/kgcoe/mechanical. Dr. Andosca completed his Ph.D. from The University of Vermont uvm.edu in Materials Science (a multi-disciplinary program between EE, ME, and Physics) in 2012. His dissertation research was on theoretical and experimental studies of piezo-MEMS vibration EH devices and sensors. He also holds an M.S. in Materials Science from UVM, and B.S. degrees in Mathematics and Physics from USNH, Keene State College. Dr. Andosca was cited in EE Times as one of ‘Twelve Shakers and Movers in MEMS’, and in MIT Technology Review, MEMS Trends, and Scientific American magazines. He is an author of twelve (12) published scientific papers and is an inventor on twenty-five (25) issued the US and international patents and has another twenty+ pending. Dr. Andosca has been an invited Keynote speaker 10X and an invited speaker or panelist over 35X worldwide on IoT, MEMS/sensors, energy harvesting, and wearable technology.
