Matt Short is the research and analysis lead for Internet of Things (IoT) solutions within the Transformative Technologies team at Omdia.
Matt’s role is to offer insights, data and assistance to companies wishing to break into markets and develop growth strategies in the disruptive world of IoT across different industries and levels of the supply chain. He has over 20 years of experience in applications engineering, systems engineering, systems architecture, and product and segment marketing.
Matt was a senior product line manager for storage at NXP’s digital networking business, working with major players in the industry to develop innovative new solutions. He has also been a key figure in developing processors, including the PowerQUICC I, the QorIQ PowerPC family of communications processors, Layerscape ARM-based processors, and specialty security ASSPs.
As a customer liaison for Motorola, Freescale, and NXP, Matt worked on a wide array of applications that included IoT and industrial, storage and data centers, networking and communications, and security. He was the executive sponsor of NXP for the Multicore for Avionics working group that helped avionics companies achieve FAA and EASA certification, and he spent several years as co-chair of the group.
Matt holds BSEE and MSEE degrees from the University of Texas.
