BIOGRAPHY

Ben Rathsack

Jonathan Taylor is the Corporate Vice President of Fab Engineering and Public Affairs for Samsung Austin Semiconductor.  In this role, he leads the overall factory operation including equipment management and productivity and yield improvements while guiding the company's brand and reputation in public affairs and communications.  Prior to this role, he served as Vice President of Production & Systems where he led the manufacturing and production of 14nm and 28/32nm technologies.  Jon has been instrumental in creating one of the world’s most advanced fabrication plants.  Serving at Samsung Austin Semiconductor for more than 25 years, Jon started with the company as a CVD Senior Engineer. 

During his tenure with Samsung Austin Semiconductor, he has safely and efficiently led various engineering and manufacturing projects including equipment removal and re-installation for 300mm Flash and LSI; the system migrations from memory back to LSI backbone and aligning operational methods and indices between the Austin team and our Korean counterparts. Throughout each project, output goals were typically surpassed and completed ahead of schedule.

Recognized for his outstanding commitment to safety and an ability to ramp production with speed and quality, he has received the 1998 Founders Award for Individual Achievement given by Samsung Austin Semiconductor President and the Future Creator Award recognizing production presented by Samsung Vice Chairman.  Plus, Jon has a 2002 Patent for Fluorine Doped NH3 Plasma (DRAM). He also represents Samsung by speaking at key events and most recently participated in the Samsung Foundry Forum.

Jon holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of New Hampshire where he received a US Army ROTC Scholarship. In 2021, he was appointed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott to serve on the Texas Energy Reliability Council and chaired the company’s effort for the American Heart Association’s Heart & Stroke Walk raising $110,000.
