New: Standardized Semiconductor Cyber Assessment Released
By Mayura Padmanabhan, SEMI HQ
The semiconductor industry has long been the backbone of global innovation but with increasing digitalization comes rising cybersecurity risk. The Semiconductor Manufacturing Cybersecurity Consortium (SMCC) is proud to announce the release of the Standardized Semiconductor Cyber Assessment (SSCA), a purpose-built framework designed to elevate cyber resilience across the entire semiconductor supply chain.
Designed specifically for the unique challenges of the semiconductor supply chain, SSCA provides a tailored framework for evaluating cyber readiness and risk across device manufacturers, OEMs, and solution providers. It enables organizations to adopt a common language for cybersecurity assessments, improving collaboration and reducing compliance costs.
SSCA is built to reduce cybersecurity risks, accelerate the adoption of best practices, and streamline supplier evaluations. Available in English and Korean, with Mandarin and Japanese versions on the way, it supports global implementation. Unlike broad frameworks like ISO 27001, SSCA focuses on the real-world risks facing semiconductor companies. It draws from TISAX, aligns with NIST CSF 2.0, and incorporates maturity modeling via CMMI. It also includes questions on product security and secure software development lifecycle, making it a comprehensive tool for modern semiconductor operations.
It covers three critical areas, cyber resilience, intellectual property protection, and product security, ensuring that organizations can demonstrate their cybersecurity maturity efficiently and effectively. With SSCA, the semiconductor industry now has a powerful tool to strengthen trust, resilience, and security across the global supply chain.
