Dr. Ward has worked in an academic medicine setting (Oregon Health and Science University and Legacy Health System) and has published 70 original articles in the biosensing field. He is also board-certified in the fields of internal medicine and endocrinology/diabetes/nutrition. He also has extensive industry experience and is an inventor on 28 patents in the field of diabetes technology. He is currently the board chair for Pacific Diabetes Technologies and lives in Portland, OR.
Over his career, he has been interested in measuring glucose and other analytes in the subcutaneous space and has worked on methods to overcome interference from drugs, endogenous compounds, and most recently, agents in insulin formulations that impair continuous glucose measurement at the site of insulin delivery.
