BIOGRAPHY

Nasser Peyghambarian, PhD, University of Arizona

Nasser Peyghambarian, PhD, is an Emeritus professor of Optical Sciences and Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Arizona. He is currently the Technical Director of the Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing at the University of Arizona. He has made significant contributions in the areas of photonics and optoelectronics. He graduated more than 70 PhDs, 80 MS, and had more than 100 postdocs and research scientists. He has over 700 scientific publications and has given 740 invited papers. His H-index is 102 based on Google Scholar. He has authored a textbook on “Introduction to Semiconductor Optics”. He founded start-ups, one of which was acquired by Amazon in 2022. He spent 3.5+ years at Amazon as Director of Optical Engineering, working on developing products. He has 45 patents granted. He is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, a Fellow of the Optical Society of America, the American Physical Society, and the Society of the Advancement of Science.
