Klaus Meder, President of Bosch Corporation Japan, share sales figures from 2016 within mobility, industrial tech, energy/building tech, and consumer goods. Specifically a breakdown of total semiconductor sales, ASIC & ASSP/Power sales, and MEMS top 10 share distribution are shown, placing Bosch at the largest MEMS supplier. Three paths to the “car of the future” are detailed– that they be electrified, automated, and connected. The need for sensing surroundings, thinking about safe decisions, and acting on planned maneuvers are crucial. Bosch has considerable capabilities to help it along these paths, including driving innovation and technology, comprehensive portfolio and extensive expertise, systems competence and know-how, long-term partnerships with automakers, ensuring quality and reliability, and global presence. Ultimately, to realize autonomous vehicles, there must be functional safety, reliability/security, localization, surround sensing, validation/release process, legislation, and system architecture. Assisted driving vs partially automated driving vs highly/fully automated driving are explained. From SEMICON Korea 2017 in February in Coex, Seoul.
