The U.S. Army’s Modernization Priority for Positioning, Navigation, and Timing: Technical Gaps and Research Opportunities

The U.S. Army Research Laboratory’s primary mission is foundational research to drive change – new paradigms, new ideas, and new innovations within, across and between disciplines. As such, MEMS and sensors has been a critical component in many Army modernization efforts. In this keynote, Dr. Perconti will provide background on the U.S. Army modernization priorities, give a history of MEMS and sensors work at ARL, and discuss the active work in Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT). APNT is an essential research program at ARL focused on technology capable of operating in GPS denied or jammed environments. In addition, The SEMI-ARL program will be discussed in context to the ARL partnership with SEMI and the FlexTech Alliance over the last 20 years.
