Duncan Meldrum, chief economist of Hilltop Economics LLC, specializes in business economics applications and forecasting. Meldrum provides demand-driven outlooks for clients in the electronic materials, semiconductor equipment, and manufacturing industries. He provides the economic and semiconductor MSI forecasts and commentary for Linx-Consulting’s “Econometric Semiconductor Forecast.” Hilltop Economics also provides chief economist services for industrial and venture capital firms on a consulting basis.
Before establishing Hilltop Economics in 2012, Meldrum spent two and a half years as the director of the Center for Forecasting & Modeling at IHS Global Insight (now IHS Markit). He joined HIS after thirty years as the chief economist of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. Throughout his career, he has been a frequent speaker at major semiconductor and other industry conferences, including ISS, SMC and SPCC.
Meldrum has a PhD in Business & Economics from Lehigh University, a MS in Operations Research from the US Naval Postgraduate School and a BS from the US Naval Academy. He holds the Certified Business Economist™ designation, and is a past president and Fellow of the National Association for Business Economics. He sits on the board of the APCI Federal Credit Union. Professional memberships include the National Business Economic Issues Council, the Conference of Business Economists, the American Economic Association and NABE.
