The Compound Semiconductor Group was formed to address the unique challenges and opportunities of compound semiconductors, which differ from traditional silicon in terms of manufacturing complexity, material availability, high costs, and integration. These materials—such as GaAs, GaN, InP, SiC, and others—play an increasingly critical role in enabling next-generation technologies but require coordinated efforts across the supply chain.
Mission:
The mission of the Compound Semiconductor Subcommittee is to advance precompetitive R&D, foster innovation, and strengthen the global supply chain while addressing the economic and strategic benefits of compound semiconductors. The group also aims to raise industry awareness, expand access to expertise, and promote standardization to support broader adoption and integration of these technologies.
The CSG is a sub-group to the SEMI Electronics Materials Group - EMG. SEMI EMG Home Page
