A New Wave of Sensors for Vital Sign Monitoring
ABSTRACT
There is a converge happening between wearable consumer electronics and traditional medical devices and MEMS and sensors are at the center of this trend, as the enablers of a wave of exciting new applications.
This keynote presentation will address opportunities and challenges from a MEMS perspective.
BIOGRAPHY
Marco Angelici is VP of Marketing and Applications for Analog, MEMS and Sensors at STMicroelectronics. Before this role, he was the head of the MEMS Micro Actuators Business Unit within ST, responsible for developing the product roadmap and the business, for Laser Beam Scanning systems, Piezo Ultrasonic Transceivers (pMUT), MEMS Speakers and Tunable Lenses, defining the long- and short-term business plans together with the key R&D investments to achieve them.
Marco joined STMicroelectronics’ R&D labs in 1995 as a mixed-signal IC designer and became, after 6 years, the head of ST’s Audio design and R&D team. He extended his responsibilities to the business side, covering different strategic and managerial roles inside ST: From 2012 to 2016 he has contributed to ST’s success in MEMS defining the strategy for ST microphones, environmental and motion sensors. He also launched the Company-wide Internet-of-Things market push, defining ST’s IoT strategy for sensors, actuators, RF, and analog products. He built strategic partnerships with both key customers and innovative technology providers in the AR/MR/XR and LIDAR spaces, funding the creation of the LASAR alliance and making ST the market leader of Laser Beam Scanning solutions. Marco received the ‘Laurea’ degree in Electronic Engineering at the University of Pavia, Italy.
