BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Will Kools is currently the Head of Technology Pioneering at MilliporeSigma, the Life Science sector of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. He explores the external Life Science ecosystem for new insights, collaboration and inorganic opportunities for the company that could spark significant benefits for customers in academic research and the pharma industry from research and discovery to manufacturing of life saving drugs. Prior to this Kools was VP of Global Technology Management in the commercial organization focused on bioprocessing solutions. In R&D, he was a patented inventor developing two industry leading product platforms.
Kools holds a master in Chemistry and Physics from KU Leuven (B) and a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Twente (NL). Having worked and studied at IMEC and having spend most of his career solving pharma challenges, he is very excited to creating a bioconvergence of all his experiences towards tangible solutions that address big needs in the pharma industry. Examples of this are incubation projects in his team on AI-enabled drug discovery and 3D cell culture for translational research.
