Intel in Ohio: Building the Silicon Heartland
ABSTRACT
Intel is investing more than $28 billion to build two leading-edge semiconductor fabs near Columbus, Ohio. Hoggatt will provide an overview of Intel’s efforts to build its first greenfield site in the United States in over 40 years and establish the ecosystem needed to support Intel’s operations. From the site selection process to the creation of road and utility infrastructure to the construction of the fabs and development of supply chain and workforce pipelines, Hoggatt will cover how Intel is working to revitalize American semiconductor manufacturing and build a more resilient global supply chain through the new Silicon Heartland in Ohio.
BIOGRAPHY

Kevin Hoggatt is Intel’s Director of State Government Affairs for Ohio. In this role, he leads Intel’s engagement with state and federal officials from Ohio, state agencies, and business associations to help successfully execute the company’s more than $28 billion investment in the construction of two new leading-edge chip factories just outside of Columbus, Ohio.
Prior to joining Intel, Hoggatt spent 16 years in various roles with U.S. Senator Rob Portman, overseeing all operations in Ohio, advising Portman on communications and policy matters, and coordinating with Ohio stakeholders to build support for and advance legislation to help the state.
A native of Wilmington, Ohio, Kevin is a graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He and his wife, Sarah, live in Columbus with their two sons.
