Abstract:

What’s the meaning of smart manufacturing to a chipmaker? Imagine a wafer frontend fab manager. Which role is smart manufacturing playing in his working life? Is it just a phrase to shine while speaking at a conference? It means so much more! Meanwhile, smart manufacturing is an essential asset to operate a modern fab and may be even more important to sustain an established one. The advantages and positive contribution to operational and financial KPI’s of a semiconductor enterprise are no longer just on paper, they are clear visible and measurable. And this is what a fab manager and his team need to stand the business, cope with day to day operational challenges and in the end fulfill the customer expectations. In this presentation examples of already applied smart manufacturing solutions at Bosch semiconductor are presented and the positive impact will be outlined. Furthermore, a window into future will be opened and possible solutions subject to be implemented next will be presented.
