
Bio
Rolf is Head of Data Science at the Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany Electronics Data Office. His team delivers data science and analytics projects along all business fields of Electronics, with a focus on R&D and manufacturing. Before his current role, he held positions in Merck’s KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany global Data Science team in the Chief Digital Organization.
Rolf has a background in mathematics with economics and did his PhD in optimization of turbulent flows. His career started in the process technology department of Evonik Industries, where he joined the Data Engineering group focusing on data management, visualization, analytics and production planning and later headed that group.
He has a deep background on AI, Machine Learning and mathematical optimization, is Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and acts as trainer for Design of Experiments (DOE). At Evonik he played a major part in the global roll-out of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
