Jun Sawada is Executive Chairman and Member of the Board of NTT, Inc.

Before being named Chairman in June 2022, Mr. Sawada was managing and orchestrating NTT as President and CEO since 2018.

Prior to joining NTT in 2014, Mr. Sawada was Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Strategy at NTT Communications. From 1998 to 2000, he served as Vice President of NTT America, where he led the business strategy for acquired companies in the United States.

In 2024, Mr. Sawada was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for his contributions to UK/Japan relations.

Mr. Sawada has led major reforms at NTT, including the introduction of the next-generation information and communication infrastructure concept “IOWN,” the reorganization of the NTT group, and the strengthening of both domestic and international partnerships.

Mr. Sawada is also known for his deep appreciation of philosophy, as demonstrated in his book Paraconsistent World, where he explores the future through the lenses of philosophy, life sciences, and information sciences. In 2023, he co-launched the Kyoto Institute of Philosophy with Professor Yasuo Deguchi, Dean and Professor of Philosophy at the Graduate School of Letters, Kyoto University, driven by the clear insight that "a new social infrastructure needs a new philosophy.” Mr. Sawada holds a B.A. in Civil Engineering from Kyoto University, which he completed in 1978.
