BIOGRAPHY
Command Sergeant Major (retired) Mark E. Phillips Sr currently works as The Transition Service Manager/Chief of Transition Assistance Program (GS-13) at Fort Hood. Mr. Phillips hails from Little Rock, Arkansas.
He has over 30 years of honorable and faithful service to our nation in the Human Resources Management Field. Mark entered the Army in 1 Aug 1990 and retired 1 Aug 2016. While in the Army, he held several leadership positions to include Team leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, First Sergeant and Command Sergeant Major. His military education incudes: Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Drill Sergeant School, Senior Leader Course, Inspector General School, United States Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 59) and Battalion and Bridge Pre-Command Course. Mark’s awards and decoration includes Legion of Merit, three Bronze Star Medal, five Meritorious Service Medal, Iraq and Afghanistan Campaign Medals, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Mr. Phillips is a recipient of The Adjutant General’s Corps Regimental Association and The Order of St. Maurice from the National Infantry Association.
Mark has a bachelor’s degree from Troy University in Criminal Justice and a master’s degree from Columbia Southern University in Human Resource Management and Military Studies. He retired from the Army 1 Aug 2016 and immediately transitioned into his civilian career as Fort Hood’s Transition Services Specialist/Career Skills Manager.
Mark is married to formerly Kimberly Smith of Little Rock, AR and has two children: Mark Phillips Jr and Raven Cordon.
