Speaker Biographies

Mark Stephens EPRIMark Stephens is Principal Project Manager for EPRI and the Leader of SEMI F47 Voltage Sag Immunity Task Force.  Mark Stephens manages research and services work related to Industrial Power Quality.  He is a Senior Member of the Association of Energy Engineers, and several power quality standards working groups in IEEE and CIGRE.  With over 33 years of professional experience,  Stephens joined EPRI in 1997. His most visible projects include extensive research and management of the seminal EPRI System Compatibility Task 24 research program which led to the development of the SEMI F47 power quality standard in 1999.  He was the secretary of the CIGRE C4.110 working group (Voltage dip immunity of equipment in installations), and was involved in the development of IEEE 1668-2017 (Recommended Practice for Voltage Sag and Short Interruption Ride-Through Testing for End-Use Electrical Equipment Rated Less than 1000 V).  Stephens has worked to characterize and improve power quality issues in all manufacturing sectors by leading testing and site assessments at customer locations worldwide. He has taught over 70 related courses and is commonly asked to lecture on the subject at conferences. He has written over 20 conference papers on the subject matter as well.

Clay BurnsClayton Burns has 44 years of utility and industrial experience in areas of utility R&D, electricity metering, electric generation, power delivery, and heavy industry power and control.  He currently works in National Grid’s Transmission Planning & Asset Management group, as a Principal Engineer, focusing on power quality for transmission customers, bulk energy storage applications, SEMI and IEEE standards, and multiple NYISO and NYSERDA committees.  Mr. Burns is a member of IEEE and a licensed professional engineer in New York State.

EdMcGannEd McGann, VELCO, has 17 years of experience in transmission protection and controls and is currently the Manager of Engineering & Principal Member of the Technical Staff.

Greg ReiderGreg Rieder, GlobalFoundries – has over 30 years of experience and responsible for the Engineering and Operations of the electrical distribution system at GlobalFoundries semiconductor manufacturing facility in Essex Junction, Vermont.

 

Michael NothMichael (Mike) E. Noth, P.E. is a Power Systems Manager at Austin Energy on the Transmission, Substation, and Distribution side.  He was a Director of Engineering at LCRA, on the Power Generation side.  Mike has 13 years of utility experience.  He has over twenty-two years of experience in Semiconductor, all on the Facilities side. His title at the last two sites Hyundai and Samsung, were Site Electrical Engineer and Manager.  Reliability and Power Quality are a staple of Mike’s existence and experience in both major segments (Semiconductor and Utility) of his working career.

Dan SabinDan Sabin is a Senior Principal Architect with Schneider Electric Digital Power in Andover, Massachusetts, USA. He is part of an innovation team that accelerates data-based competencies & business by exploring & incubating new analytics applications, new analytics platforms, and new organizational models & processes for analytics. Previously, Dan was a Principal Engineer and Software Architect with Electrotek Concepts, focusing on power quality database management, power quality analysis, and distribution fault location applications in PQView. He also developed PQDiffractor, which is a widely-used viewer for IEEE PQDIF and IEEE COMTRADE files. He was a project manager with EPRI focusing on power quality monitoring, grid analytics algorithm development, and distribution fault location automation. Dan has a Master of Engineering Degree in Electric Power from RPI in New York. He is a registered professional engineer in Tennessee, an IEEE Fellow Committee Member, the Vice Chair for Standards of the IEEE PES Transmission & Distribution Committee, and the chair of the IEEE P1409 Power Quality Solutions Working Group

Tony HuntTony Hunt (MSc, CEM, CPQ) works for Schneider Electric as a global marketing manager specializing in bringing power management applications to companies that operate power critical facilities in a variety of segments including data centers, healthcare, industry, infrastructure, and large buildings. As a Certified Energy Manager and a Certified Power Quality Professional with 20 years experience in the field of energy and power management, Tony helped develop and deploy power management software modules designed to integrate with Building Management Systems and Process SCADA Systems. He remains an instrumental contributor to Schneider Electric’s integrated power management software strategy.

Christopher “Dale” Moffitt, HP Inc. - Born August 1985, lifelong Oregonian, married 14 years and have six children (3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 13), BS in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University in 2018, power engineer in training (EIT) with the state of Oregon, planning on P.E. license this summer, at HP Inc in Corvallis I have nearly 4 years of experience as a sustaining electrical infrastructure engineer, 2 years of experience in industrial machinery acquisition and compliance, 1 year supporting fire alarm and life safety systems, I enjoy family time, woodworking, the vast variety of outdoor sports Oregon provides and learning new things.

 

Willem MeijsWillem Meijs is an Low Voltage expert in electrical engineering on supply distribution system for machines. He has 20 year experience in mains supply distribution for ASML litho-tools being used in US, EU and Asian markets meeting local and international IEC, US and Semi standards. Topic of compliance are IEC60204, NFPA79, SEMI S2/S22/S23, power quality SEMI F47 voltage sag immunity and harmonic compatibility EU/IEC and IEEE519.

 

Giel CroonenGiel Croonen works for ASML as Electronic Development Mains & Safety.  He lives in Belgium, is 28 years old, has a Masters Degree in Electronics, and has been working for 6 years at ASML.

 

 

Josh PankratzJosh Pankrantz, Advanced Energy - With more than 20 years of experience in power supply design, Josh Pankratz currently serves as Engineering Director for Advanced Energy’s DC Power Products for Semi and Thin Film applications. In his role, he develops key architecture strategy and oversees project implementation.
