Sensing Biology Where It Matters: A Distributed Diagnostic Infrastructure
ABSTRACT
Biological testing remains heavily dependent on centralized laboratories, complex optical instruments, and workflows that can delay decisions by days or weeks. Yet many of the most consequential biological risks arise in places where immediate action matters: food-processing facilities, farms, water systems, veterinary settings, hospitals, environmental monitoring sites, and distributed field operations including defense.
SensTek is developing a distributed diagnostic infrastructure designed to bring molecular diagnostics closer to the point-of-need. The platform, based on a proprietary solid-state electrochemical sensor technology, combines a reusable electronic reader, disposable multi-reaction-chamber cartridges, application-specific molecular assays, mobile app, cloud dashboards and AI-enabled analytics. Its direct electrochemical bio-sensing architecture captures bioreaction kinetics without relying on conventional optical detection, enabling compact instrumentation, spatial multiplexing, integrated controls, and digitally native biological data.
This presentation will explore how SensTek is transforming molecular testing from a stand-alone laboratory procedure into a scalable bio-sensing and decision infrastructure. It will examine the technology architecture, market need, commercialization model, and manufacturing ecosystem required to deploy biological sensing across multiple industries.
