BIOGRAPHY
Saewook Lee is a Senior Director at Applied Ventures, the venture capital arm of Applied Materials. He rejoined the firm in 2025 after previously serving from 2019 to early 2022, bringing with him over two decades of experience in corporate venture capital, strategic investments, and global business development.
Before returning to Applied Ventures, Saewook was Managing Director and Head of US Investment at Woori Venture Partners US in Palo Alto, one of Korea’s largest venture capital firms with over $1B in assets under management. He led the firm’s US investment strategy, focusing on early- to growth-stage startups across hardware, software, consumer tech, energy, medtech, and AI.
Earlier in his career, Saewook held investment and leadership roles at several global corporate venture organizations, including 3M Ventures, SK Telecom, and Samsung. His responsibilities spanned venture investments, international business development, and operational execution across diverse technology sectors.
Saewook holds an MBA with concentrations in Marketing and Finance from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, and a BS in Electronics Engineering from Yonsei University.
