BIOGRAPHY 

John Busch, Berkeley Skydeck

John Busch is an accomplished executive and advisor with deep experience across metrology, semiconductor, display, and solar technologies. He currently Co-Chairs Berkeley SkyDeck’s Chip Track, helping early-stage deep-tech founders build strong business foundations and go-to-market strategies. Formerly COO at SirenOpt, John continues to serve as an advisor to the company as it commercializes its advanced metrology platform. He also held VP GM roles at Applied Materials, Photon Dynamics, and Intevac, leading global organizations and P&Ls up to $250M. He has managed international teams across the US, Germany, Taiwan, and India, and brings extensive expertise in new business development, product innovation, and strategic growth. Outside of industry, he serves as Board President of Science is Elementary and mentors startups through SkyDeck and Bay Angels. John holds a BSME from UC Berkeley and an MBA with honors from Santa Clara University. He is also an inventor on eight patents and has authored several technical publications.
