A brief examination of the many factors increasing uncertainty in the global economy and how they impact the economic outlook for markets critical to the semiconductor industry.
BIOGRAPHY
Duncan Meldrum is a business economist who specializes in economics applications and forecasting for clients in the electronic materials, semiconductor equipment, and manufacturing industries. He develops the monthly economic and semiconductor forecasts for SEMI’s “Econometric Semiconductor Forecast”. Before establishing his own firm, Hilltop Economics, Meldrum was the director of the Center for Forecasting & Modeling at IHS Global Insight (now IHS Markit of S&P Global). He was the chief economist of Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. for twenty years prior to his move to IHS.
He is a past president and Fellow of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) and holds the Certified Business Economist™ designation. He is a member of the National Business Economic Issues Council, Harvard Industrial Economists Discussion Group, the Conference of Business Economists, and the American Economic Association. He sits on the board of the APCI Federal Credit Union. Meldrum has a PhD in Business & Economics from Lehigh University, a MS in Operations Research from the US Naval Postgraduate School and a BS from the US Naval Academy.
