BIOGRAPHY

Surésh Rajaraman, EMD Electronics

Surésh Rajaraman is the Executive Vice President and Head of Thin Film Business Unit at EMD Electronics. In this role, he is responsible for driving the company's strategy and growth in thin film solutions, which encompasses two main areas: dielectrics and metallics.  Surésh also emphasizes fostering innovation and collaboration with key customers and OEM partners worldwide. He is currently based at the EMD Electronics headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany.

Surésh joined the company as a part of the acquisition of Versum Materials in October 2019.  Prior to his current position, he was appointed as the Vice President of Advanced Deposition Materials business at Versum Materials/Air Products, where he was located in Carlsbad, CA.  

Before joining Versum Materials/Air Products, Surésh worked at Air Products starting in 2008. During his tenure there, he led the corporate new business development team in the Chief of Technology (CTO) Office. He played a key role in entering new markets, establishing external technology and manufacturing partnerships, and driving technology-focused mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to Air Products, Surésh spent 10 years with General Electric (GE) Corporation in various research and development roles within the Advanced Materials and Specialty Materials business. His responsibilities ranged from plant process development to new product development, ultimately leading to global technology director roles. He also earned certifications as a DMAIC and DFSS black belt during his tenure at GE.

Surésh holds a Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in upstate New York, USA, as well as a Master's degree in Polymers from the University of Madras, India. He has authored/coauthored 17 journal publications, 2 book chapters, and is named as inventor/coinventor on more than 25 patents.
