BIOGRAPHY
Sanjiv Bhatt, is a materials scientist, technologist, and business strategist whose singular career arc spans fundamental discovery, applied engineering, and commercial execution across the world’s most advanced industries. Grounded by a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering, an Executive MBA, and a postdoctoral fellowship in interfacial materials science, and with more than 50 publications and 25 patents spanning polymer systems, surface chemistry, and semiconductor materials, Dr. Bhatt brings both the scientific depth and the business fluency. During his post-doctoral research Dr. Bhatt worked with Nobel Laureate Dr. Richard Smalley — from synthesis to commercialization and commercializing one of the first SWNT-based products in the semiconductor industry
Over more than two decades, he has translated that combination into results for technology companies— now at Mitsubishi Chemical Group, where he is building the commercial strategy supporting the semiconductor ecosystem working across customers, partners, and markets to advance next-generation materials solutions for one of the semiconductor industry’s most consequential materials suppliers.
As Chair of the Strategic Materials Conference 2026, Dr. Bhatt brings a conviction rooted in experience: that materials science — and particularly the behavior of interfaces — is not a supporting discipline to semiconductor innovation but its foundation, and that convening the ecosystem around that insight is among the most important work the industry can do right now.
