Harsono Simka, Ph.D. is a Senior Director in Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. in San Jose, California. He leads Logic Pathfinding Lab in Samsung Logic Technology Development, with a mission to evaluate advanced devices, interconnects, process integration, and materials needed to enable scaling for improved Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) in Logic products. He is interested in finding innovative solutions, including disruptive technologies, to solve fundamental challenges arising from dimensional scaling.
Harsono received a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from MIT and started his career at Intel in 1998. He helped investigate and develop technologies such as metallization, CMP, PVD, CVD, ALD, wet etch and cleans in multiple process nodes, using fundamental modeling approaches. He joined Samsung in 2017 and has led projects in BEOL and DTCO areas. Harsono has over 25 US patent filings. He is active in guiding US academic research in microelectronics systems and technologies, and serves as a Technical or Science Advisory Board representative to the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC) since 2004.
