BIOGRAPHY

Ron A. Rutenbar, University of Pittsburgh

Dr. Rutenbar received the PhD from the University of Michigan in 1984. On top of his duties of expanding partnerships, managing compliance, and strategic vision at PITT, Dr. Rutenbar holds faculty appointments in Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering in the Swanson School of Engineering. His research focused on tools for analog IC design, models for nanoscale statistics for chip design, and hardware architectures for AI. He has published over 200 papers and books, mentored 50+ graduate students, and had his work featured in venues ranging from  EETimes to the Economist magazine.

Dr. Rutenbar's previous roles include: 

  • Carnegie Mellon University faculty for 25 years, holding the Stephen J. Jatras Chair and founding Director of the Center for Circuit & System Solutions
  • Abel Bliss Professor and Head of the consistently, nationally high-ranked Computer Science program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
  • Founder of Neolinear, Inc. in 1998—serving as the company's Chief Scientist until its acquisition
  • Founder of Vox Corporation, now called Voci Technologies Inc.
