BIOGRAPHY

Vanitha KumarVanitha Kumar is a Senior Vice President of Software Engineering at Qualcomm Technologies Incorporated.  Vanitha has 25 years of experience in the wireless telecommunications industry and in embedded software architecture, design, and development.  In her current role at Qualcomm, Vanitha leads the modem SW technology team which includes 5G, 4G-LTE, Cellular IoT, RF, and automotive technologies across multiple global locations. She also has vast experience leading multiple generations of cellular modem chipsets and working closely with customers, vendors, and cellular carriers to launch many devices and technologies. She has about over 200 granted patents in the US & abroad. Vanitha holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University, and a Bachelor of Electronics & Communication Engineering degree from PSG College of Technology, India.
 
Vanitha is passionate about the role of women in science and technology. She is on the board of  Qualcomm Foundation in charge of Corporate Giving. Vanitha is a founding member of the Women's leadership Council (WLC) at Qualcomm focusing on the challenges of recruiting and retaining women across the organization. She is also on the board of the Elementary Institute of Science which is a non-profit organization that focuses on developing exposure and interest in STEM careers among young children.  She is a  frequent speaker and panelist in several technology and industry forums & conferences. Vanitha is the recipient of the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA)’s inaugural “Rising Woman of Influence” award in 2018 and the YWCA TWIN  (Women in Tech Industry) San Diego award in 2016. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7E-KUYJYVY
