Sustainable Silicon: Building Energy-Efficient AI Infrastructure for the Semiconductor Era

ABSTRACT

This session explores how AWS approaches infrastructure sustainability through innovative design principles and custom silicon development. We'll examine the architectural decisions behind AWS data centers and discuss the development of purpose-built processors—Graviton for general computing, Trainium for AI training. The presentation will highlight how power efficiency considerations are integrated into silicon design from the ground up, and why these innovations matter as the semiconductor industry navigates the computational demands of the AI era.
