How AI is Impacting the Supply Chain Ecosystem for Semiconductors

ABSTRACT

The high-growth segment of the semiconductor market is AI-based, and while wafer capacity is being added, there will be shortages at ≤5nm of 15% to 20% in 2026, and DRAM shortages will also likely be 20% to 30%.
The semiconductor vendors will increase prices which will increase profits and give strong CAPEX growth in 2026 and potentially 2027.

An area of concern is that of declining global GDP growth which can negatively impact the growth of the semiconductor market.

The migration to smaller feature dimensions will continue which is positive for the growth of CAPEX and the supply chains for semiconductors.
