Capex and WFE Outlook: Riding the Wave

ABSTRACT

As the semiconductor industry races ahead to the $1T level, driven by AI’s insatiable appetite for higher levels of computation power, capex and WFE spending reach levels considered unthinkable just a few years ago. But underneath the mad scramble to build hyperscale data centers, other forces are at work which will affect the ever increasing need for more fabs to supply AI’s chip requirements.

Bob Johnson, Gartner

Bob Johnson is a VP Analyst in Gartner's Emerging Technology and Trends Research organization, where he is part of the Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing team. He is responsible for research and analysis of market trends in the semiconductor and electronics manufacturing area with specific focus on industry long term trends and is the lead analyst for coverage of semiconductor capital spending and wafer fab equipment markets.

Mr. Johnson utilizes his over 40 years of experience in the Semiconductor Equipment industry to evaluate current trends in light of industry history and how that will impact future performance.
