Semiconductor Manufacturing Trends and Forecast

Christian Dieseldorff | Senior Principal for Semiconductors, Industry Research and Statistics Group | SEMI

The semiconductor industry experiences an exceptional good time. A surge in demand, driven by several factors including COVID-19, spurs companies to increase investments for new capacity and new technologies. The “World Fab Forecast” report lists over 1300 facilities and lines and predicts 3 years of consecutive growth for fab equipment spending. New capacity and new fabs are being built, not just for 300mm but also for 200mm and smaller wafer sizes.  The presentation will explore some of these trends and challenges, and reveal SEMI’s forecasts for the coming years.
