US And Global Supply Chain Challenges For The Coming Decade

ABSTRACT

Global leading-edge semiconductor manufacturing has been recognized as a critical geo-political imperative, and national governments are incentivizing domestic capability for economic and strategic reasons. Over the next decade per capita semiconductor demand will rise at double the global GDP growth rate, and increasing materials intensity for advanced chips will compound this growth to 10-15% AAGR for materials used in sub 5 nm technologies. The proliferation of new materials, and changes in regional weighting for chip making will challenge materials suppliers to develop, manufacture, and deliver the advanced products at the specifications expected. This presentation will explore some of the challenges against the background of increasingly integrated supply chains, sustainability requirements, and governmental involvement.
