The EDA Industry OS Roadmap presents guidelines to EDA vendors and customers for compute platforms to target for design starts. By focusing the efforts of the electronic system design community onto key compute operating systems, the Interoperability Committee seeks to define a stable, interoperable environment for tools and streamline the resources required to support these environments.

The roadmap shows when key EDA flows on flagship products are supported on an OS. The goal is to show when a complete tool flow will be ready on the latest OS, as well as when older operating systems should should be avoided for new design starts. For information on OS/Platform support by individual ESD Alliance member companies, click on the company logos below to see their specific plans.

Beginning in 2018, we have added additional OS revision information to the roadmap for x86 64-bit Linux. EDA vendors and developers should develop tools on releases less than or equal to the specified revision (below). EDA users should use releases greater than or equal to the specified revision for new designs.

For the benefit of companies using Flexera’s Flexnet Publisher (FNP) to manage licenses, a number of EDA vendors have listed their current and future FNP deployment status below.

and the minimum recommended OS for users when starting new designs.

** Status Key:
Active: Currently supported and recommended for design starts.
Active/Future: Check with individual software vendor.
Deprecated: Currently supported on previous software versions. Not supported for design starts on new software releases.
Future: Not currently supported, but support is planned by the indicated date. (Contingent on the actual general availability of the OS.)
