Founder & CEO Schulhauser Associates LLC
Randal received his B.Sc. for Electrical Engineering and B.A for Physiology from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario Canada. He is recognized by his professional organization as a Biomedical Engineer. Upon graduation in 1985, Randal was hired by Medtronic of Canada Ltd. as a Product Engineer assigned to work on the first Medtronic human implantable defibrillator. He has since obtained a Business Commerce certificate while working fulltime.
While working on defibrillation waveform techniques with Dr. George Klein at University Hospital in London, Ontario Canada, the concept of an implantable ECG holter monitor was conceived. This concept was transformed into various investigational devices, eventually released to the market in 1997 under the Reveal® LINQ brand name. Implantable cardiac monitoring has grown to a $1B+ business worldwide.
With 40+ years of experience working in the MedTech Industry (39+ years at Medtronic) and 20+ years residing in Arizona, Randal formed Schulhauser Associates LLC in June 2024. This LLC has unique skills and perspectives that will prove valuable to any MedTech organization. My job description for the past 10 years at Medtronic has been succinctly stated as; “Figure out how medicine will be practiced 5 to 10 years from now and help Medtronic make decisions today to be relevant 5 to 10 years from now”. This included running an internal seed fund to convert ideas into prototypes with pre-clinical data. Medtronic remains a client of Schulhauser Associates LLC.
